About Me

My name is Rena Youngblood.  Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day to take a look at Is It A Good Story.  Years ago I was completing that question we’ve all run across….What are your hobbies?  I always list reading first, followed by movies, theatre and football.  It dawned on me that my real ‘hobby’ was having someone tell me a story.  Even during a football game, you have the story of how the teams feel about each other, who was arrested the week before, who’s on the injured list and all the other factors that come into team play.  It’s fantastic!

I’m not a fast reader, I usually rent or stream movies, and I rarely go to the theatre so why am I starting this blog.  Well, I believe most people, of a certain age, are like me.  We’re not necessarily in a hurry to be the first to read or see something but when we do decide on a story, thus a chunk of our valuable time, we don’t want to be disappointed.  How many times have we all heard, “I’ll never get those two hours back”?  But since I don’t read or watch movies for a living (wouldn’t that be a dream job), I’m not a critic always on the lookout for a masterpiece.  I like to be entertained first and foremost so the cast doesn’t have to be predominately British for me to consider it worthwhile.  I like big budget films too.  They really do have their place in the world of entertainment, but if this blog had existed a week ago, I would tell you to save your $1.20 at Redbox and stay far far away from Disney’s John Carter.  You can never get those two hours back, seriously, not ever.
